Tilden Hike January 2007

OK, still testing out the new blog. Yesterday, I went hiking with my friend and neighbor Yanni at Tilden and Wildcat Regional Parks.

It was a beautiful day for hiking and we hiked about 7 miles. Saw a few interesting things along the way: a shy salamander, a banana slug, and a dead skunk.

Uh, no point in showing the dead skunk, however, it was recently killed somehow.

We stopped by the well-equipped visitor's center to collect trail maps of various East bay trails and to check out the books on plants/wildflowers. There is a small farm nearby for kids replete with cows, sheep (black), chickens, turkeys, rabbitts, geese, and other farm animals. Seemed like an odd place for a farm.

We continued on for several miles before having lunch and heading back. Until next time....
